The Okura Prestige Bangkok presents a mindful workshop experience in partnership with MyPlantiness House, “The Kokedama Workshop.” Meaning ‘moss ball,’ Kokedama is a traditional Japanese style of potless planting where plant roots are carefully encased in rich soil and soft moss, shaping a vibrant green sphere that functions as a piece of living art. Inspired by the Japanese concept of Keshiki 景色 – a living landscape unfolding before the eyes, the workshop transforms the space at The Okura Prestige Bangkok into a contemporary Japanese garden.
Designed with delicate moss lines along the windows that mirror gentle hills against the Bangkok skyline, rhythmic hanging Kokedama installations, and a central miniature landscape table featuring bonsai-shaped flora, natural stone, wood, and ceramic elements, the venue invites guests to slow down, ground themselves, and reconnect with nature through touch and texture.
Guided by the expert team from MyPlantiness House, a one-hour session offers an intimate step-by-step creative journey, guests select their plant, blend the soil, wrap the roots in nutrient-rich sphagnum moss, cover the sphere in fresh moss, and complete their living creation to display on a plant plate. More than a craft class, this tactile process encourages participants to leave daily busyness behind and cultivate patience, calm, and simple happiness through direct connection with earth.
Every participant receives a complete take-home set, including their custom-made Kokedama plant, a plant plate, a water spray bottle, and a plant care guide.
