Traditional Tanabata Fare Shines at Yamazato
The Tanabata Festival, based on the celestial love story of the deities Orihime and Hikoboshi, traditionally takes place across Japan in July and early August. Also known as the star festival, Tanabata is a time for family gatherings and food plays an important part. Which is why Michelin Plate restaurant Yamazato is marking the occasion with traditional Tanabata Gozen lunch platters and a multi-course Kaiseki dinner. In addition to delicious soups and noodles, also on offer are wonderfully fresh sashimi, tempura and grilled offerings. Highlights of the Kaiseki dinner include vermicelli with seasonal sweet fish (ayu), a hearty soup of pike eel dumplings and a grilled dish of Spanish mackerel with spicy miso leek sauce.
